THE SCORPION STORY

Scorpion Taekwondo was founded in 1988 by our Chief Instructor, Peter Adamsons, in Doncaster. What began in local church halls and community centres has grown into a remarkable journey—producing new clubs, dedicated coaches, and even Olympic athletes.

Today, our not-for-profit academy headquarters is a full-time, fully equipped training facility, complete with professional matting and gear to support all levels of Taekwondo practice. We’re proud to be officially recognised by GB Taekwondo—the organisation behind Great Britain’s World Class Performance Programme—as a GB Talent Club.

Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds of students build fitness, confidence, and discipline—whether their goal was to earn a black belt or to compete at elite international levels. Many of our members have gone on to represent Team GB at European, World, and Olympic competitions, earning well-deserved medals along the way.

Our team has also been instrumental in organising national competitions and events. We’ve hosted tournaments across Doncaster, Sheffield, Barnsley, Peterborough, Selby, and Glasgow, including popular “Fight Night” events. Scorpion Taekwondo has also been trusted to host major occasions such as the British Taekwondo AGM, Black Belt Gradings, referee courses, and high-level seminars.

In collaboration with Doncaster University College, we hosted an international training camp and delivered one of the prestigious European Taekwondo International Coaching Courses at the venue—further demonstrating our commitment to the growth of the sport.

Our reach has extended far beyond Doncaster. Scorpion Taekwondo has established clubs across the UK, including in Mexborough, Gainsborough, Haxey, Westwoodside, Carlton in Lindrick, Goole, Barnsley, Goldthorpe, Darfield, Wath, Thurnscoe, Wakefield, Bradford, Selby, Scunthorpe, Boston, Peterborough, Bedworth, Coventry, Spennymoor, and Glasgow. Many of these clubs are still thriving today, led by instructors who began their own Taekwondo journey with Scorpion.
